Coming off the heels of mega-breakthrough City of Evil, Avenged Sevenfolds self-titled album only increased the epic scope of the Huntington Beach outfits approach. Though their early metalcore edge was increasingly sanded away, A7X made up for this with a mix of god-level guitarmonies from Synyster Gates and Zacky Vengeance, pulse-quickeningly punky power metal, and festival-dominating rock anthems.
