Simply put, deathcore as a genre wouldnt exist without The Healing Process. Despised Icons 2002 debut synthesized the hard-nosed spirit of Hatebreed with the breakdown addiction of Poison the Well, and played those chugs with the decimating force of a Nineties death-metal group like Suffocation. It was a winning formula that other bands wouldnt start collecting on for another five years, which makes The Healing Process an essential text in extreme metal history and one that still goes hard all these years later.
