No foolin, The Jester Race is one of the Nineties most impressive melodeath records. Released in 1996, In Flames sophomore LP was their first to feature former Dark Tranquility vocalist Anders Fridnon the mic, as well as drummer Bjrn Gelotte who would later go on to become the Swedish bands guitarist. The Jester Race moves from jubilantly-screamed, semi-acoustic metal waltzes (Moonshield) towards hummably atom-bombed heat-seekers (Dead Eternity) and anthemic stomps. This 30th anniversary pressing arrives on clear vinyl, and likewise comes packaged with a see-through repress of the bands Black-Ash Inheritance EP from 1997.
