There was a cruel, telegraphed irony to starting 1990s Ritual de lo Habitual with the frenetically funked, punked and thrashed Stop! just a year later, after headlining lead singer Perry Farrells inaugural Lollapalooza tour, Janes Addiction broke up. Regardless, the bands swansong at least before their eventual late Nineties reunion was a heck of a way to go out. Farrells sinewy mewling is ultra-magnetic and extra debaucherous. Guitarist Dave Navarros acid-dappled shred ripped through the mix above the mountain-leveling drive of the rhythm section. The gold standard of the then-impending Alternative revolution, available now on clear translucent pearl vinyl.
