When Charlie Byrd toured South America in 1961, Bossa Novaa melding of Brazilian samba rhythms with the harmonic structures and cool sound of West Coast jazzwas booming. He brought back records for Stan Getz to hear and they planned a session. The result was Jazz Sambathe first album of Bossa Nova music by jazz artists and the one that created the Bossa Nova wave. Verves Acoustic Sounds Series features transfers from analog tapes and remastered 180-gram vinyl in deluxe gatefold packaging.
