Judas Priest continued to spread their sad wings of destiny on 1977s Sin After Sin, the bands staggering major label debut and third full-length overall. Epically post-apocalyptic opener Sinner fully crystallized the classic Priest sound, with Rob Halfords mighty and melodic eagle screech soaring high above a mix of twinned guitar dramatics and moto-psycho fury. While the album also goes slightly disco-metal through an operatic, yet mirror ball-glittering cover of Joan Baezs Diamonds and Rust, Sin After Sin must-hears like Starbreaker and Raw Deal harnessed a tough-as-leather aesthetic that defined the developing New Wave of British Heavy Metal.
