Mastodon have never remained stagnant, and theyve made that abundantly clear since the first few notes of Crusher Destroyer. The Atlanta juggernauts 2002 debut full-length still their heaviest dispatch is stuffed with frenzied rhythms, prickly leads, chugging riffs and bellowing vocals that congealed into a sound unlike anything else of their era or any era since. Remission is worth owning on vinyl for the brilliant cover art alone, but these beastly discharges also sound best on wax.
