While Rages first three albums were taut with unimpeachable rap-rock game-changers, 2000 covers set Renegades proved that the band also knew how to handle someone elses classic. You could even call it their deepest release, as it bounces from groove-fracked takes on MC5 and hardcore tributes to Minor Threat, to distortedly funky remodels of Cypress Hill and Rolling Stones singles, to an oddly tender and folky Devo revamp. A bizarre, but ultimately bangin studio swan song.
